Kim Kleman

Kim Kleman

Kim Kleman is the National Director of Report for America, managing a talented team of senior leaders of the organization.

As a longtime adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, she has taught courses in investigative skills and reporting, among other things. She is currently writing a book with a Harvard Law School professor and behavioral economist on the best ways to attract, retain and promote women in the workplace, based on decades of company data.

Previously, she was Editor-in-Chief of Consumer Reports, where she led the organization’s showcase brand and galvanized its editorial, testing, survey research and advocacy teams to produce a unique mix of reports. She also spearheaded its digital expansion to tablets and other digital platforms.

Kleman was also Editor-in-Chief of The American Lawyer, responsible for leading editorial strategy of ALM’s flagship legal brand and overseeing The American Lawyer website, magazine and daily newsletters. Earlier, she was a reporter and editor at the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times).

She began her career in the Polk County bureau of The Tampa Tribune. Over the course of her 30+ editorial career, her teams have won more than two dozen prestigious awards for work in various media. Kleman is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
