Katia Savchuk is a freelance magazine journalist based in Oakland, California. She was formerly a staff reporter at Forbes covering billionaires, philanthropy and money in politics. As a Kaiser Global Health Reporting fellow with GroundTruth, where she conducted research to frame a Special Report on public-private partnerships in global health. She has also written for The Center for Investigative Reporting, Village Voice, the Miami Herald and The Guardian, among others. She was formerly a Fellow at the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University. Katia holds an M.S. in journalism from Columbia, an M.S. in urban and development studies from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from Harvard.
