Housed within the offices of WGBH in Boston, GroundTruth has a lively headquarters; a prestigious Board of Directors and Advisory Board; a small, talented and dedicated staff, and a timely mission and vision. The Development Communications Coordinator will be based in Boston, MA and will report to the Associate Director of Development and collaborate with the GroundTruth team of editors and managers headquartered in Boston and the leadership of Report for America, which is based in New York. This individual is responsible for creative, effective, and timely donor communications and support.
At the nexus of nonprofit fundraising, reporting, and storytelling, the Development Communications Coordinator will be charged with:
Designing and developing visually-appealing and creative communications materials to effectively communicate GroundTruth programs and impact, including the annual report;
Building and maintaining systems — including our Salesforce database — to carefully track, acknowledge, and report upon gifts and grants (including data entry and analysis);
Support implementation of online fundraising campaigns 2-3 times per year, including coordination of our annual end-of-year NewsMatch campaign participation and Report for America’s new membership program;
Manage logistics and produce materials to support friendraisers and fundraisers for GroundTruth and Report for America, from donor-hosted dinner parties to our annual gala;
Support development of GroundTruth’s new donors-exclusive newsletter and identify other creative opportunities to steward existing donors;
Support donor research functions, including producing donor profiles ahead of key meetings and events; and
Support other development functions of a fast-growing team as needs emerge.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an emerging professional who seeks to make an impact in a small, but growing organization and who shares an interest in education, journalism, civic engagement and the issues GroundTruth addresses. Successful candidates will possess:
2-5 years of professional work experience in a nonprofit development or marketing role;
Demonstrated experience in graphic design and development of nonprofit marketing materials;
Working knowledge of donor management systems, preferably Salesforce, and some background in data reporting and analysis;
Background in digital marketing, including web management, social media, and email newsletters;
Outstanding writing and editing skills, as well as ability to write on a deadline;
Excellent attention to detail, especially as it relates to deadlines and time management;
Ability to relate well to staff, donors, and board members and handle confidential information with discretion when necessary;
An ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
A problem-solving mindset and passion for building things from the ground up;
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time; flexibility to work evening and weekend events;
A sense of humor, creativity, flexibility and high standards in nonprofit excellence.
