Report for America is looking for a full-time Data and Information Associate to work on all aspects of program operations and ensure they run smoothly, from reporter applications to newsroom payments. This is a dream job for an early-career candidate who is data and tech-savvy, loves spreadsheets, has high attention to detail, and enjoys troubleshooting and improving processes.

It’s a chance to support an exciting mission-driven nonprofit doing extremely meaningful work and collaborate with passionate and talented colleagues across different areas of the organization. This is a position with high potential for advancement as you grow within the role. We’re looking for a collaborative self-starter who takes the initiative, a strong writer who can communicate clearly to newsrooms and corps members, an avid learner who uses Google and YouTube to find solutions, and a logical thinker who can create and document processes and maintain accurate data. If this sounds like you, please apply!

  • Maintain an accurate database of all RFA newsroom and corps member data.
  • Collaborate on the development of data collection methods.
  • Ensure that RFA sources of data are accurate and being relayed appropriately.
  • Work with GroundTruth IT to meet RFA’s data needs and ensure that RFA has the technological platforms (both internal and external) to provide excellent services to both newsrooms and reporters, as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Create, harmonize, and manage workflows and processes across RFA and GroundTruth, including Corps Excellence, Training and Service, Local Sustainability, Recruitment and Admissions, IT, Finance, and others.
  • Manage the backend of the application and admissions processes for newsrooms and corps members.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure accurate payments and statements go out quarterly to host newsroom partners.
  • Manage the contract processes with newsrooms and corps members.
  • Ensure that deadlines are met by keeping participants and “owners” of certain tasks in this process on track.
  • Communicate with newsrooms as necessary on financial or programmatic topics.

We are looking for a dedicated Data and Information Associate who brings a blend of relevant experience and a keen eye for detail to our team. The right candidate will ideally have at least one year of relevant work experience, showcasing their ability to effectively create and manage data and workflows – internship experience can count!

While a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, it’s the candidate’s skills in working with spreadsheets and data that truly stand out. They should possess excellent written communication skills and uphold high standards for accuracy and attention to detail. This role is perfect for someone who is not only skilled in the technical aspects of managing data but also values precision and clarity in their work.
